Benefit House of Hope

House of Hope is a short-term residential care facility for teens ages 12 - 18, designed to intervene in their lives before they are sent to juvenile detention, foster care, or jail. It has been serving families for 22 years nationwide and its headquarters are located in Orlando, FL. House of Hope Joplin will be recreating that model locally. Teens will live on site for an average of 8 to 18 months, during which time they will be responsible for continuing their education, learning basic life skills, household and land maintenance chores, as well as individual and group counseling. Teens will be court-appointed, referred by a counselor or church, or brought by their parents who are looking for help.

House of Hope's ultimate goal is to heal the entire family, so during a teen's stay at House of Hope, parents are required to participate in counseling and parenting classes. This allows teens to reenter a healed environment, instead of healing the teen and placing them back in the original dysfunctional environment.

We have begun our non-residential counseling program which is currently serving four families for a total of eight students. We have begun parenting classes which are open to the community to attend. When we begin our residential program we will continue our counseling and parenting classes, along with focusing on the spiritual, emotional, physical and academic pieces of each teen.

Mission Statement:

House of Hope Joplin exists to heal hurting teens and restore broken families through the grace, hope, and love of Jesus Christ.

Our Goal with this race is to provide a fun and exciting way to raise funds to support House of Hope, Joplin.
