Sprint- 500 meter

Olypmic- 1500 meter

The swim is in Scroggs Lake, which is a private lake northeast of Joplin. Swim will be in wave starts for both races based on gender/age. There will beIMG_0194 a novice/beginner wave for both races which participants can opt into when registering. This wave is for anyone who feels uncomfortable with the swim portion of the race.The swim course will be well supported with watercraft and lifegaurds. No flotation devices are allowed. You may stop and rest during any portion of the swim by holding onto the watercraft that will be available but you may NOT make forward progress. The volunteers/lifegaurds on the swim course have authority to pull you from the race/water if they feel like they need to for your safety.

If you decide you cannot complete the swim for whatever reason or get pulled (your safety is our priority) you may continue the bike and run portion of the race after turning in your timing chip and getting approval from a race official. You will not be ranked or eligible for awards and will receive a DNF (did not finish) on the official timing sheet.

SPRINT- 15.3 Miles

OLYMPIC- 40k (24.8 miles)

Both courses are loops. No drafting is allowed (please see USAT rules listed on this site or go to www.usatriathlon.org) you have 15 seconds to make your pass. When riding stay as far right whenever possible keeping in mind you and other riders safety. The course will be traffic controlled and there will be motorcyclists with draft marshals on the course to make sure you are following the rules. Recumbent and tandem bikes are not allowed. All bicycles must be self propelled. Helmets are required.

OLYMPIC- 10k (6.2 miles)

Run courses are out and back with an aid/water station at the turn around point for both distances. There will also be an aid/water station at the beginning of the run. So there will be 2 water stations for the sprint and 3 for the Olympic.

Please make sure your race bib is visible at all times.

 

 

 

Transition: Only paid participants are allowed in transition, no exceptions. Transition will close at 7:15 AM. There will be a mount/dismount line for the bicycle that you must observe. After the last racer has finished you may remove

you gear from the transition area.
