PARENTAL ASSISTANCE: We have an open transition with quite a bit of space but we are asking only one parent to assist their youth during the race. Parental assistance can consist of the following:
- Stand on pool deck for moral support
- Escort from pool to transition area
- Help child locate bike and put on clothing as
needed.
- Assist child to re-rack bike in the same
location you started
- Run with child on run course
SPECTATORS:
Race spectators not helping the children in the transition area (or on the run) should plan to watch the race from outside the course. We recommend bringing lawn chairs, sunblock, an umbrella, and snacks/water. We encourage spectators to arrive before 7:45am so they do not impede the participants and can get a great vantage point.
SUGGESTED GEAR LIST:
- Here are some items you might consider packing
 for your youth racer:
- USAT ID card (if you have one) or print out
from USAT website
- Course maps and confirmation info
- Lifejacket (if youth is a non-swimmer)
- Bike and helmet
- Goggles and towel
- Clean, dry clothes
- Separate bike and/or running shoes (if you
have them)
- Sunglasses
- Race belt or safety pins for race number
- Backpack or bag for your gear
- Snacks
- Jacket/pants (in case it is cool in the
morning)
